Why Is Our Reading Program FREE?
Because there shouldn't be a price on learning how to read.
The Kohn Education Foundation was founded by teacher and children's book author/illustrator Dwayne Douglas Kohn to provide FREE high quality instructional materials to schools and parents around the world.
Mr. Kohn, who has over 35 years experience in the classroom, developed a unique reading program that takes the 100 most common words in English and teaches them in a logical sequence.
The 100 words are arranged into 6 different levels, based on their difficulty. Students begin with the 16 easiest 1 and 2 letter words on the RED level. These are words such as I, a, at, he, no, etc. Once they master these words, they advance to the ORANGE level which contains 16 three letter words. This continues with YELLOW, GREEN, BLUE levels, each with an additional 16 words. Finally, the students reach the PURPLE level which contains the most difficult words.
For each of the 100 words there are flip booklets, flash cards, worksheets, cut and paste activities, bracelets and/or wearable watches, practice pages, and more!
It turns learning into a game! And best of all....the entire program is FREE!

Many schools around the world cannot afford the hundreds, and even thousands, of dollars that many reading programs cost. Why should a child's access to educational materials be determined by how much money their community has?
Dwayne Douglas Kohn not only designed the Sight Word Rainbow reading program, he also provided the illustrations. Some drawings are taken from his many children's books, while many others are original works created specifically for these materials.
You are free to download and use the complete program, or individual components as needed. Check back often as new material is added on a regular basis.
